SOUNDBITE (French), Didier REYNDERS, Belgian Minister for Finance and Institutional Reforms, We will try to discuss about the credit rating agencies at the ECOFIN informal meeting at the end of the month; we need to exchange views with some people coming from these agencies in order to get a good regulation; also we have to discuss with the Commission on the capacity to go further with a good agenda in Europe, like in the US, so to be clear, to try to have a comparison between the evolution of both US and EU economies.

SOUNDBITE (French), Didier REYNDERS, Belgian Minister for Finance and Institutional Reforms, On the need to continue fighting fraud, in areas such as the VAT but also in other areas; on the exchange of data between member states and on the possibility of going a step forward on the taxation of savings, and the fight against fiscal evasion.

SOUNDBITE (French), Didier REYNDERS, Belgian Minister for Finance and Institutional Reforms, We are most worried about the EU's capacity to influence decisions regarding the new international financial rules; a special concern is about the EU's capacity for the choice of the International Accounting Standards Board's (IASB) members.

I fully agree with that! but how to convince all participants that it is a good solution to do it...
