European Elections 2014: statement by Jean-Claude JUNCKER, EC President candidate

SOUNDBITE (French), Jean-Claude JUNCKER, EC President candidate, "It's my first trip in Brussels after the terrorist attack at the Sablon quarter. As I said this morning, I would like to tribute the victims and express my sadness because this act was unacceptable and unquantifiable. And I would like to remind to everybody that things that the fear from foreign citizens, from others, to became sane. We have to love everybody and we shouldn't discriminate other religions, races or philosophical tendencies. Intolerance is not an European virtue."

SOUNDBITE (English), Jean-Claude JUNCKER, EC President candidate, "As far as the situation in Europe is concerned, I would like to start by paying tribute to the people of Ukraine. This was a demonstration of democratic courage and of democratic responsibility and I would like and to Ukraine and to Russia to re-enter an atmosphere of dialogue and I really hope that this election results."

SOUNDBITE (French), Jean-Claude JUNCKER, EC President candidate, "It seems that the EPP just won the election, I would like to tell everybody that according to the results evidently the EPP claims the presidency of EC. Then, the European Council and the Conference of Presidents of the EP recently elected, with the new chiefs from political groups and from parties with representation in the EP to meditate this results and to prevent all the consequences in the correct direction. If we see that in the most reasonable way, the most likely according to the scrutiny it seems that the EPP could claim the EC presidency."
