The Erasmus programme is an international student exchange programme that has been running in Europe since 1987, supporting education, training and sport.
The current Erasmus+ 2014 to 2020 spending programme has a budget of €4.7 billion (in current prices).The proposed budget for the 2021 to 2027 programming period has been increased to EUR 30 billion (in current prices) (article 14 of the proposal). The focus of the new programme is on being inclusive and on doing more to reach young people with limited opportunities.
