SOUNDBITE (Spanish), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, <p>It is an honor and a pleasure to be here in Yuste to receive the Carlos V Award; this award is a message to all European citizens because it is important that together we can work for the development of Europe. It is important for me as President and for all European Members to shorten the distance between European institutions and the citizens, and answering the questions of European citizens is my priority and the priority of the members of the EP.<br />This award helps us to do more and for me it is an honor, as President of the Parliament I am very happy that from here we send a strong message in favor of a more political, more modern Europe, with more values. We must change, reduce the power of the bureaucracy, but without Europe, we cannot go forward. We cannot compete globally, and we cannot protect European citizens, reduce youth unemployment, terrorism, and tackle illegal immigration. We can win only if we are together as Europeans, this is the added value of Europe.</p>
