SOUNDBITE (English), Mohammed CHAHIM (S&amp;D, NL), I'm very happy with the green new deal. I think it has many elements which we really need to make sure that the Paris agreement will be upheld by Europe. And I think the most important thing that we show as Europe that we are really serious about our leadership. We will be the first climate neutral continent in 2050 and I hope in the slipstream of that other continents will follow.

SOUNDBITE (English), Mohammed CHAHIM (S&amp;D, NL), If we make pledges, we need to make sure that we also meet the pledges. So it is about the implementation and it is also about the plans. So at the one side we need to increase our NDC's not only as Europe but also as other countries and continents in the world. And we need to come up with plans to make sure that the NDCs will be achieved. 

SOUNDBITE (English), Mohammed CHAHIM (S&amp;D, NL), So this is a very technical COP. We need to make sure in the Paris agreement that all the details are finished, all the articles 4 and 6. I know that the negotiations are going slow, but at every COP, there is a little bit of slowness towards the end and a little bit of acceleration towards the end. And I do hope and I do feel that there will be a solution at this COP because we need it. Because next year should not be about technicalities. Next year should be about increasing the pledges.
