Equal data must be handled in accordance with the current legislation, data protection legislation. The sets of data transmitted by the equal system will be kept to minimum, so there is information available which rescue services will need.

The 112 nr already exist in 12 member states, and the reception centres also exist in certain member states , we need to adopt , so they can all receive the signal. There has to be a filtering system so they can distinguish with the e-call calls.

SOUNDBITE (English), Siim KALLAS, Member of the EC, The EC has made 2 legislative proposals last June: 1st one addresses the in vehicles part for the e-call services to insure that all new models of the passengers cars will be equipped with the 112 recall system by 1st of Oct 2015. The 2nd request member states to deploy infrastructure for e-call emergency centre by 1st oct.2015 to insure proper recite and handling of the e-calls on the EU territory. The Commission also recommend that member states target mobile network operators to support the transmission of the e-calls. We want to make 112 e-call simple, cheap and accessible for everyone

SOUNDBITE (German), Evelyne GEBHARDT (S&amp;D, DE), Imagine that you are in the situation that you are having an accident at night, somewhere in the country side, you can't call the emergency yourself, sometime you have to wait for more than 2h, 3h....4 h until help arrives. That the situation that make this new system so important. its so important to discuss how this is all organised. How can this e-call be tighten with the 112 service , that the first point. Secondly the important issue is to make sure that the signal is only send out when it's actually required. We have to make sure that this is a sleeping system.

Whenever this kind of think is a subject of discussion they say "don't worry it's just used for good reasons", but there is always an abuse, there is always a back doors where the information can be put to other use.
