The Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) vote on an update to EU rules on the safety of toys to better protect children and tackle the new challenges brought about by e-commerce and new technologies such as AI. The proposed regulation introduces new bans on the most harmful chemicals such as endocrine disruptors and a digital product passport to facilitate safety checks. For years, toys have topped the list of product categories listed on Rapex that represent dangerous products. That is completely unacceptable. That is why we have taken an important step towards greater toy safety today. We've made sure that fewer chemicals pose a risk to toys. And we've minimized the risks posed by connected toys. We have also converted the directive into a regulation, which means greater efficiency and greater safety in the market.
