Katarina apja embertelen körülmények között túlélte a holokausztot, de sok családtagja az auschwitzi koncentrációs táborban lelte halálát. Katarina azt szeretné, ha a jövő nemzedékei is megismernék családja történetét. Egy holokauszttúlélő lányaként ő is magán viseli a holokauszt borzalmai okozta sebeket. Gyerekként hallott először családja hányattatásairól, de még most, évtizedekkel később is nehéz beszélnie ezekről a tragikus eseményekről.

Belgium holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 January to 30 June 2024. Belgium has announced that it will be working to strengthen the European Union and make progress in several areas, such as climate change, economic growth and social cohesion; whilst acting as a neutral mediator to lead the legislative work and seek compromises among the EU Member States. Javier ZARZALEJOS (EPP, ES), Rapporteur, gives a statement about the Civil Liberties Committee (LIBE) voting a proposal to lay down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse online. The proposal suggests that service providers should be obligated to evaluate the substantial risks of their platforms being used for online child sexual abuse and grooming. It also proposes granting judicial authorities the authority to issue time-limited orders for detecting and removing such materials and establishing an EU Center for Child Protection. This center, among its various responsibilities, would serve as the primary complaint channel for the entire European Union. MEPs debate on their position on rules to protect journalists, activists, academics, artists and researchers against legal actions aimed at silencing them. The draft directive provides minimum standards of protection from lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP) in the EU through early dismissal of these cases, obliging the claimant to cover the costs of proceedings and not recognising third country judgements. The rules should apply in cross-border cases when the claimant and defendant are not based in the same country as the court or when the case is relevant to more than one member state and the disputed work can be accessed electronically. MEPs are also set to call on member states to ensure that SLAPP victims get legal, financial and psychological assistance.
