SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, EP President, <p>I desire to convey my condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the tragic air accident of the Ukrainian plane which was shot down shortly after taking off from the Iranian capital Teheran on Wednesday, killing all 176 passengers and crew members on board. We are confident that a thorough, accurate and transparent investigation ensures justice to the victims. I invite you to observe a minute of silence in their memory.</p>

SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, EP President, Given the sentence of the Court of Justice of the European Union on the 19th of December 2019, the European Parliament notifies the election as members of the European Parliament for Spain of Mr Junqueras i Vies, Mr Puigdemont i Casamaj&oacute;, Mr Com&iacute;n i Oliveres, with effect from the 2nd of July 2019. Taking into account the decision of the Junta Electoral Central on the 13th of January 2020 and the decision of the Tribunal Supremo on the 9th of January 2020, the EP notifies the vacancy of Mr Junqueras i Vies' seat with effect from 3 January 2020, in accordance with our Rules of Procedure.
