Digital Services and Digital Markets Act
Esemény dátuma: 28/01/2021
The Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act encompass a single set of new rules applicable across the whole EU. They will create a safer and more open digital space, with European values at its centre.
The Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA) have two main goals: to create a safer digital space in which the fundamental rights of all users of digital services are protected and to establish a level playing field to foster innovation, growth, and competitiveness, both in the European Single Market and globally.
The Parliament voted three resolutions in October 2020 to address and tackle current shortcomings in the online environment: a comprehensive revision of the E-Commerce Directive and the imposition of ex ante obligations on large digital platforms with a gatekeeper role, inter alia rules on content management, content curation and online advertisements and the update of the current EU legal framework governing digital services to address the challenges posed by new technologies and ensure legal clarity and respect for fundamental rights.
