SOUNDBITE (French), Moussa FAKI MAHAMAT, Chair of the African Union Commission, For us to reap the fruits this EU Africa partnership must be based on solid principals and it must mark the entire area and take the scale of this the multi-dimensional thing; the visionary objectives in a world which is expanding and where the horizons are widening, with the respect of equality, freedom, solidarity are the essential landmarks if it is to be sustainable, lasting and mutually advantageous. Africa has to devote all of its brightness and its best, its intelligence to look forward to the forthcoming period. We are looking forward to create a united Africa, prosperous and at peace.

SOUNDBITE (French), Moussa FAKI MAHAMAT, Chair of the African Union Commission, The reforms of the Africa Union decided by the 2017 summit sends a real hope to for our renaissance, because we are responsible for our own governance and it must also support the positive developments which are there to all to see. Our continent must pull its resources and its talents in order to eradicate the social tragedies it had to face, because of famine, droughts and conflict and violation of Human Rights. These crisis and conflicts put the Humanitarian elements at the stage centre, looking forward to 2020 we are proceeding with the spirits of resolve and determination, tackling terrorism, jihadism and radicalisation is in the centre of our daily efforts for peace and stability and we are devoting all our efforts to that, both of in terms of management and indeed post conflict reconstruction.

SOUNDBITE (French), Moussa FAKI MAHAMAT, Chair of the African Union Commission, Africa is the region of the world which suffered most of the degradation of the natural environment and from climate change. The devastating effects on flora and fauna reduce and sometimes annihilate irreversible way the opportunity and possibility of continued life in a great tracks of the continent. There is a paradox in this, because on one hand Africa is the least polluting continent and it is the one suffering most from climate change, is it superfluous to recall that Africa does not get the full benefit from the efforts and sacrifices that are made to come to terms with the threat which is posed by climate change. This is an essential domain in our partnership which must be better understood, better handled and given a higher priority.
