Deep-sea platform safety, EU enlargement in the light of the Turkish elections on 12th June and the fight against child pornography are all on the next agenda.

Coming up in Brussels

After Strasbourg,  we’re returning to Brussels.

On Tuesday Mario Draghi, the future  ECB president, will be grilled by MEPs.

We've seen that MEPs  can change the course of things.

When it comes to Mr Draghi, whom  I believe has undisputed competencies

in a situation that is difficult  for the euro,

the EP will shoulder  its responsibility.

Apart from the future of the ECB  and the euro,

in a Parliamentary Committee,  MEPs will take a stand

on deep-sea oil and gas  platform safety.

The Deepwater Horizon disaster  is still preying on people’s minds.

EU enlargement will be brought up  with the question:

‘Could the Turkish general election  on Sunday 12th June

influence Turkey’s EU  membership bid?’

I hope it will but in my opinion  what will accelerate the procedure

is working on a solution  to the Cyprus and Kurdish issues.

And finally, Turkey has  to manage its size.

Also on the agenda is the fight  against internet child pornography.

The EP, Council and Commission  could finally come to an agreement

MEPs will also look into reducing  phosphates in household detergents.

These chemicals diminish water quality  and are responsible

for the deaths of fish  and other organisms.
