SOUNDBITE (Dutch), Kati PIRI (S&amp;D, NL), rapporteur , We give the signal to all our Heads of our EU governments that they should stop with this one-dimensional communication with Ankara on topics such as how many people are coming to the Greek islands. In Turkey are internal aspects not in order, when we see the violence in the South-East of the country, or the problems around the press freedom, so we cannot negotiate in a one-dimensional way with Ankara, negotiate, but negotiate largely.

SOUNDBITE (English), Kati PIRI (S&amp;D, NL), The signal we are sending today to the EU member states before they come together this Thursday, is that they should quit in having this one-dimensional dialogue with Turkey. Just talking about migration when we see what is going on in the country itself. There are many problems with the press freedom and also in terms of violence in the South-East, this is an issue which is of great concern to the European Parliament, so much more effort should put be put on that.

SOUNDBITE (English), Kati PIRI (S&amp;D, NL), (on Cyprus) On Cyprus we welcome, all of us welcome as the whole international Community that we see that perhaps this year this decade long conflict will be resolved in a peaceful way and we praise the leaders of the two communities in all their efforts to bring this to a successful end. Of course we see the difficulties ahead; the signal we are sending is that they should be encouraged to bring this process forward.
