As France and Italy talk of reintroducing  temporary border checks,

MEPs are in favour of Bulgaria  and Romania joining the Schengen area,

Most MEPs say the two countries can  guarantee surveillance of their borders.

We're going to check if border controls,  police co-operation and visa issue

We've checked this in the case  of Romania and Bulgaria.

They've done some magnificent work  to fulfil all the conditions.

They're ready  and should join the Schengen area.

Romania and Bulgaria were initially  going to join Schengen in March,

but several states like Germany  and France are opposed

due to the Roma question,  who are often Romanian citizens.

Fighting corruption and organised crime  is also the subject of debate.

If one talks about the Schengen area  with the freedom of movement,

we should also talk  about the question of corruption

and is it possible that our outside borders  are compromised by corruption issues?

Corruption is not just  in Romania and Bulgaria.

The specialists have to think about  and create an objective system

which is able to measure  this corruption.

MEPs should officially vote  on the subject in June.

For now, it's difficult to know when  Romania and Bulgaria will join Schengen.

No decisions are expected  before the end of 2011.
