SOUNDBITE (French), Martin SCHULZ, EP President, We need quick solutions, it is absolutely necessary that we react in a fast and determined manner, but we must also take note of the fact that a certain number of those that arrive now are not those that need our protection urgently, like the Syrian and Iraqi families. I am full of comprehension for every young Magrebin or Pakistani that is looking for a better life here with us, but humanitarian protection is something else, and it is primordial at this point in time to find solutions for those who really need protection. To succeed with that we need cooperation with Turkey, beyond the political controversies that exist.

SOUNDBITE (German), Martin SCHULZ, EP President , I have just meet Prime Minister DAVOTOGLU, I have spoken of the situation in the country, the military confrontation in the country, I spoke with him about the Zaman case and I have listened to the explanations of the prime minister, he has another view of things than we do. I have told him on behalf of the European Parliament that media freedom is a key element of the EU identity.
