Geo-blocking

As of 3 December 2018, Europeans are able to shop online without unjustified geo-blocking, wherever they are in the EU.​​​​​​​


The overall objective of the proposed regulation is to give customers better access to goods and services in the single market. To that end, the regulation aims at preventing direct and indirect discrimination based on customer' nationality, place of residence or place of establishment in cross-border commercial transactions between traders and customers in the EU. To that end,the proposed regulation enshrine into EU law specific rules prohibiting online traders from discriminating between customers in the general terms and conditions they offer for selling goods or services ​​​​​​​
