MEPs give their expectations for the March EU summit. EP President Schulz visits Greece. MEPs are in Myanmar ahead of by-elections where Aung San Suu Kyi is standing.

EU leaders will be in Brussels Thursday  for another summit.

EC President Barroso said it's unlikely  that the crucial firewall

to strengthen the bailout funds  will be decided.

MEPs want the Council  to take negotiations up a gear.

It's not a question of 'if'  they will put more money in, but 'when'.

So I do expect, and I'm confident,  that this decision will appear later in March.

Germans, understandably, don't want  to continue paying the bill.

On the other hand, the bill will grow even  further if we don't take decisive action.

EP President Martin Schulz  was in Athens this Tuesday.

The first EU leader to visit the country  since April 2011,

he spoke of his regret that the crisis  had strained Germano-Greek relations

and called for solidarity to end the crisis.

In Naypyidaw, MEPs met with Burmese  ministers ahead of the April by-elections.

Aung San Suu Kyi, who MEPs fought hard  to release from house-arrest, is a candidate.

Myanmar continues to be subject  to EU economic sanctions,

despite the regime appearing to relax  its stranglehold on power.

Most of the ministers have begged us  to stop the sanctions,

They are proving with the April by-elections  that they mean it,

that the reform process is  being implemented in the field.

I think we have to loosen those sanctions.
