In the September 2020 State of the Union address, Ursula VON DER LEYEN, President of the EC, announced the new 55 % EU emission reduction target for 2030, a revision of the EU's climate and energy legislation by June 2021, a target of spending 37 % of the €750 billion NextGenerationEU recovery fund on Green Deal objectives, and the intention to raise 30 % of the NextGenerationEU budget through green bonds.
