SOUNDBITE (English), Se&#225;n KELLY (EPP, IE), Within the COP21 and the climate area we are really getting down to serious decisions which have to be taken very quickly, so there is no time to loose, so we have got to look at global situation and if we are given leadership in Europe, that leadership has to be followed through a practical sense, obviously taken technology transfer is an aspect of that.

SOUNDBITE (English), Gerben-Jan GERBRANDY (ALDE, NL), The European Union desperately wants a legally binding agreement here in Paris, but we all know that a few countries like fringstens the U.S. they will never agree with an international legally binding agreement because it won't pass U.S. Congress so we are now working on some kind of compromise where the INDC will be put into national law, which will make it legally binding at national level. And I think that would be a very good outcome if on Friday or Saturday that will be in the final text.

SOUNDBITE (English), Gerben-Jan GERBRANDY (ALDE, NL), The poor countries have to trust the rich countries that they are going to contribute in a right way and the rich countries have to trust the poor countries that they know that it is in their self interest to fight climate change. I'm a bit concerned about the inability of the richer part of the world to come up with efficient funding. In the 70ties we agreed to spend 0.7 percent of GDP on development aid, why can we not have a similar kind of deal on climate change financing. So that is the kind of solutions that I'm waiting for and that could seriously bridge the gap.

SOUNDBITE (French), Yannick JADOT (Greens/EFA, FR), Do these 11 European countries get together to introduce a tax for the financial transaction, sufficiently largely covering the financial transactions, with an enough high percentage tax high enough to get sufficient amount of money together and do they manage to stop financial speculation? And which part of this money could be used to tackle climate change? We know for example that France and Germany have gotten engaged in this strongly, that a good amount of these revenues goes to climate funds for the Southern countries, but this is not the case for the majority of countries. So we need to wait and it is absolutely necessary that Europe progresses, it is essential for the public budget, it is essential for a message to be send to the financial world, but we need to establish for once this tax to be effectively at least on a level of 25% that goes to the Climate fund to help the most vulnerable countries.

SOUNDBITE (French), Yannick JADOT (Greens/EFA, FR), The promise by the states is 3 degree, that is insufficient, so leaving Paris do we have the mechanism to revise those engagement which allow us rapidly to improve our ambitions, to reduce the CO2 emissions before 2020 and from 2020 on every 5 years and also that we have the sufficient financial means for the Southern countries who are the first victims and the less responsible for the deregulation of the climate. The European Union, if it does not assume the leadership in these negotiations then there will be no good agreement, it is not enough that the EU is leader for that there is an agreement, but if Europe is not leading there is no agreement, so this is a difficult task for Europe.

SOUNDBITE (Dutch), Anne-Marie MINEUR (GUE/NGL, NL), What I just heard from the NGO&rsquo;s is that they can now talk to us European Parliamentarians, but if they want to participate in the COP21 conference then they are send outside. And also if they speak to President of the COP21, that at the end they want to contribute, then they are send out of the Secretariat. This is really not good as this is a conference that goes of the management and also about the economy world, the biggest lobbyist are here, the big sponsors also, but it has also to go about the people who are involved in climate change. So I have some worries about it.

SOUNDBITE (Dutch), Anne-Marie MINEUR (GUE/NGL, NL), I understand that for example the oil and also the charbon industry is not an easy mission, because they should really differently work and they should find a different manner to earn money, but we cannot continue as we did before. Happily we are speaking here over a limitation in temperature rise of 1.5 instead of 2.0 degrees, I think this is very necessary, because we see the consequences and we do worry about what happens, but it must mean that for a majority of bigger companies to overthink the way of functioning, this they do not like, but it cannot continue in like this.
