SOUNDBITE (English), Martin SCHULZ, EP President, We discussed about the possible negotiations of a free trade agreement between the United States and the European Union. We agreed that such an agreement could be a contribution to solve economic problems on both sides of the Atlantic. The European Union, for the time being and the situation economically in which we are need specially growth and where there are growth more revenues for the public budget and jobs and this is exactly what we think we could achieve with negotiating now in a speed out way with the government of the United States about the free trade agreement.

SOUNDBITE (English), Martin SCHULZ, EP President, We discussed how to define clearly a mandate and to define the levels on which we try to cooperate more and levels we should not include in the free trade agreement because we must solve it on another level for example climate change questions.We will never solve the climate change question in the frame of a free trade agreement. Therefore, we need a follow up convention to the Kyoto protocol. That was what we more or less from a principle point of view discussed also with Vice President Biden and with the Senators here that we must define a mandate which is focusing concretely on the cooperation and the exchange in the frame of very precise trade fields.
