Description
David SASSOLI, EP President, and João Pedro MATOS FERNANDES, Portuguese Minister for the Environment and Climate Action and President in office of the Council of the EU, sign a COD Lex on the European Climate Law in presence of Pascal CANFIN (Renew, FR), Chair of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI), in the European Parliament in Brussels. On June 24, MEPs adopted the new EU Climate Law, which increases the EU’s 2030 emissions reductions target from 40% to at least 55% and transforms political promises that the EU will become climate neutral by 2050 into a binding obligation.
