Posting of drivers in the road transport sector (Mobility package): extracts from the vote and statement by Merja KYLLÖNEN (GUE/NGL, FI), rapporteur

SOUNDBITE (French), Karima DELLI (Greens/EFA, FR), Chair, This mobility package and its challenges - we have been working on this for more than a year. And today is the vote. You will not tell me now that we have to defer the vote. I do understand the tension which exists outside on the streets for the workers, but we are here,as legislators are trying to improve their working conditions. And the time came now to have a vote and each and one of us must take up his or her responsibilities. We are going to pass to the first report of Mrs Kyllonen on the posting drivers in the road sector. So, we must start.

SOUNDBITE (English), Merja KYLL&#214;NEN (GUE/NGL, FI), I think the biggest issue is what will happen to the package, because one part, the Cabotage went through. Do we continue with the package or do we split it - that need to be discussed. And, I think, we continue that discussion and negotiations today in the coordinators meeting in TRAN committee. And, of course, it is quite sad result, because, actually, the situation in the market goes on. Those, who are cheating, those, who are using the drivers, misuse the system, doing bad game - they will continue. I think this is loss for all of us.
