SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, Saying that what we need to do in this moment is to put the EU in the position to act while not loosing out of sight an Humanitarian approach, which the EU citizens are demanding. We are in a diffiuclt moment right now, because we need to launch a project that is not easy to launch, as it needs the engagement of everybody. We should create an instrument that gives the possibility to the EU to solve this problem, but in achieving this we need to overcome our egosim, our member states need to decide in which direction they finally want to go. 

SOUNDBITE (English), Birgit SIPPEL (S&amp;D, DE), Since years the reform of the Common European asylum system is blocked. Not by all the political groups in the Parliament, but by the Council. The Parliament with all the difficulties, with all the different views agreed, not only on the reform of the Common European asylum system, but even in a broader view regarding the holistic approach, also including how to deal with 3 countries and 3rd countries origin. We did our job, but the Council is blocking. 

Peitro BARTOLO, (S&amp;D, IT) (initiator of the exhibition) reminds us that those 378 people that died should be remembered as people at the door of reaching Lampedusa
