Acceleration of R&D&I Projects in Water and Waste Management in Southeast Europe Countries

During the plenary session (14-17/12) of the European Parliament in Brussels, MEPs vote on new drinking water rules, designed to offer high quality tap water across the EU, thus enabling and encouraging people to drink tap water rather than bottled water while reducing plastic waste. To improve access, member states should encourage the free provision of water in public buildings. A resolution on the implementation of the EU water legislation will be put to the vote. L'Européen moyen consomme près de 106 litres d'eau en bouteille chaque année, ce qui représente un coût économique et environnemental. Le Parlement européen met à jour les règles relatives à l'eau potable pour poursuivre l'amélioration de sa qualité et de son accessibilité, et encourager ainsi les Européens à abandonner les bouteilles en plastique.

Une eau potable sûre et propre pour tous

Le Prix Sakharov 2020 sera décerné à l'opposition démocratique en Biélorussie, le Parlement examinera les résultats du dernier sommet de l'UE, votera le programme REACT-EU, un nouveau programme de relance de 47,5 milliards d'euros et examinera la mise à jour des réglementations relatives à l'eau potable. Tout cela et bien plus encore, à l'agenda de la session plénière.

250,000 residents in Mwanza, Tanzania, will benefit from improved water and sanitation and a cleaner environment as part of the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Programme. The project is part of a three country initiative to improve water in towns around the lake in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. This includes new water infrastructure, as well as public health education and awareness-raising hygiene campaigns. They also propose setting up free water fountains where feasible and providing tap water for free, or for a low service fee, in restaurants, canteens and catering services.
