SOUNDBITE (English), Ulrike LUNACEK (Greens/EFA, AT), EP Vice-president, (Opening speech): "This movie is about not only the suffering of the people (in Syria) but it is also about activists. And I talked before about the tragedy of the refugees, that we see also every day. And as a European citizens and as Vice President of the European Parliament I have to say we European, we need to do more, much more to ensure that refugees from Syria and elsewhere crossing the Mediterranean are rescued and not left to die, this means that this European Union needs a common Asylum and migration policy and this Europe needs to live up to the promises."

SOUNDBITE (English), Ulrike LUNACEK (Greens/EFA, AT), EP Vice-president, "The movie we are going to see shows at the same time how activism and commitment for Human rights can change the world and that it is possible to change things even in worse situations like in Syria."

If we look at it honestly and with courage, we had Geneva I and II and we are looking forward to Geneva III. Well to make things simple we need a transitional government that would provide all Syrians regardless their religion."

SOUNDBITE (Arabic), Ali FERZAT, Sakharov Prize Laureate 2011, "We see that the large organisations are unable now to solve the crisis and this is only the Syrian crisis, but there are other crises in the world because of the lack of courage."

SOUNDBITE (Arabic), Ali FERZAT, Sakharov Prize Laureate 2011, "The question is not about Syria; Syria is part of a bigger problem. If China, Russia and Iran continue to interfere and mingle in the internal affairs of other countries, look at the contradiction."

SOUNDBITE (Arabic), Souad NAWFAL, Syrian teacher,activist, 2015 winner of the Homo Homini HRP, "I think it is quite clear for everybody now that Assad is bombing civilians in schools, in hospitals in their homes and in markets and I left my country while it was bombed by the Assad forces. There had been the airplanes of Assad bombing civilians while not really bombing target areas, no single bullet were directed at areas."

SOUNDBITE (Arabic), Souad NAWFAL, Syrian teacher,activist, 2015 winner of the Homo Homini HRP, "Assad has used (the media) in order to make people not taking care of what crimes he is committing. The Islamic State if they kill someone, the regime will kill 100. If the Islamic State killed 1 journalist, 1000 of journalists will be killed by the Assad regime. The Islamic State killed 12 journalists, Assad killed until now 117, and actually I think that the media helped to cover the crimes of Assad."
