SOUNDBITE (English), Giovanni LA VIA (EPP, IT), Chair of ENVI, We are here for discussing about a big agreement between all the associations around the world of mayors for fighting against climate change, because the mayors clearly involved and we are sure that together across the world they can do a good job for having a better climate in the future.

I have always been a big EU fan, for me the biggest benefit of the EU is that it has taken a continent that had an awful lot of wars and it made peace for a lot of years and helped the population of every country to grow and deal with the changing world and congratulations with what you are doing.

SOUNDBITE (English), Michael BLOOMBERG, United Nations Secretary General special Envoy on Cities and Climate Change, It is up to individuals to reduce their energy consumption; it is up to companies to change the fuel they are using, to less destructive fuels. It is up to all of us to work together when we share infrastructure, to make sure it is more energy sufficient. And we got to somehow rather stop with this process when every year temperatures are going up. Nobody knows what is going to happen long term, all we know that things are changing and the risks that this is getting out of control are much too great to say we will wait and see. We have to do something about it now and hopefully it will turn out that we didn't need to, but the consequences of us not doing it and it turns out that we should have, this could be really the end of the world.
