Health technology assessment: extracts from the debate

Taken as a whole, it will improve European citizens access to medicines and new health services.

SOUNDBITE (French), Fran&ccedil;oise GROSSET&Ecirc;TE (EPP, FR), We are talking about a common scientific assessment regarding the therapeutic added value of a new technology regarding but relative to existing ones. And that's a task which will make it easier to promote treatment with higher added value and enhance patients access to innovative treatment.

SOUNDBITE (Croatian), Biljana BORZAN (S&amp;D, HR), The system as it is envisaged should lead to more affordable prices for both the patients and the health care systems. I believe that the European Union should do everything in its power within its competences in order to help the member states that are facing the rising costs of healthcare.
