Many thanks to all of you who travelled from all over Europe for being here together in Brussels today."

SOUNDBITE (English), Sylvie GUILLAUME (S&amp;D, FR), EP Vice-President, "47 laureates were designated in June this year. But today I regret to inform you that two of them are missing. I am making reference to two Greek laureates: Metropolitan Social Clinic of Helliniko and The Social Kitchen, who are not with us today because they refused this Prize earlier in September in order to contest the effects of the European Policies on the Greek society and the economy. This is the first time of the Prize's history that this occurs. These organisations are making a great job towards the most vulnerable in a difficult context. This is why despite their decision I want to pay tribute to them and recall that the European Parliament is supportive to them. I also want to pay tribute to Ms Carole Roberts who passed away in August and who was designated laureate for management of the Rose Hill &amp; Donnington Advice Centre dedicated to help vulnerable people."

Now I can see the beauty in each human being. And that is the gift of life to me."
