This is a prize which rewards the exceptional achievements by citizens for promoting better mutual understanding, and at 5.30 in the Yehudi Menuhin space there will be a celebration to salute the achievements of these exceptional citizens, and that us all congratulate with them. Thank you for the efforts".</p>

SOUNDBITE (English), Sylvie GUILLAUME (S&amp;D, FR), EP Vice-President , "In 2014 all these criteria were met for 47 candidates out of 90. Helping the most vulnerable, fighting against fascism, racism, anti-Semitism, defending an intercultural dialogue, campaigning for more tolerance, evolving young people on European projects, improving a better knowledge of European laws, acting for freedom of speech: all these values are set out in your daily life actions. Despite the economic crisis and its deleterious effects, despite the rise of euro scepticism, European citizens are still there to defend a European model based on rights, justice and democracy".
