Nicole FONTAINE, EP President, invited Commander MASSOUD, the Vice-President of the Islamic State of Afghanistan, to visit Strasbourg to speak about the situation in his country. During the press conference, he urged to pressure Pakistan on its support for the Taliban and asked for humanitarian aid to combat the Afghan people's conditions under the Taliban. Few months later Massoud was assassinated in a suicide bombing on September 9, 2001.
