SOUNDBITE (English), Claude MORAES (S&amp;D, UK), Chair of the LIBE Committee, For me, as Chair of the LIBE Committee which deals with Fundamental rights, I see this policy is completely unfair, it is unprecedented. It is a policy which targets countries on the basis of religion and that can not stand. For the EU as a whole, there will be people in the EU, countries even, who will accept this, who will see this as a politically opportune thing to do. But I would imagine that the majority of countries, the majority. of Heads of states, the majority of people in the end, will understand that tzhe European Union is a union of values, that was expressed when Angela Merkel explained to the President of the US, that we abide by international law and the convention of Geneva on refugees. We do not allow our visa policy or other policies to deliberately target countries on the basis of the background and the religion of a person.
