As this has now become a tradition, the European Parliament in Strasbourg holds its Open Day on Sunday 10 June, around the theme "2018 - European Year of cultural heritage". 

Children like adults are expected to follow a circuit with information stands, surrounded by some musical, educative and playful animations, in a family atmosphere. A debate is also planned between citizens and MEPs.

The President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola receives His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France). Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, born on 30 January 1962, is the King of Jordan. He took the throne on 7 February 1999. Belonging to the Hashemite family, which has ruled Jordan since 1921, he is regarded as a 41st-generation direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad.

In 2024, Europe Day takes on even greater significance as it comes exactly one month ahead EE2024. The EU institutions propose a wide range of activities across the EU Member States, as well as in the home of the EU institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg.
