The European Parliament, the Council and the Commission negotiating teams reached an unprecedented agreement on the MFF and next generation EU and own resources.

SOUNDBITE (English), Johannes HAHN, European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, It's a good deal for the Parliament, I have to acknowledge and I am grateful for this. Because you have obtained a number of achievements including the reinforcement of 50 billions for specicfic programmes compared to the 21 July European Council agreement. This include falgship programmes of our Union and key priorities of this parliament such as Horizon Europe, Invest EU, Erasmus + , Health4Europe, you name it.

SOUNDBITE (English), Johannes HAHN, European Commissioner for Budget and Administration, The increase, a very substantial for programmes such as the rights and values and as I mentioned already, EU for Health, which will respectively double and triple compared to the level agreed by member states in July. Moreover, 30 percent of the EU funds will be spent to fight climate change, the highest share ever, and the key priority of this parliament, while they do not harm principle, applies to the whole of the EU budget.

SOUNDBITE (Polish), Jan OLBRYCHT (EPP, PL), Please note that we have not breached the agreement, which was made in July of this year in the European Council. We have not breached it, but together with the European Commission and the Council, we have found such a solution which will reinforce policies without breaching a political agreement. And this is a situation in which we can say we're in a win win situation. Basically, everyone had only advantages as a result of this solution.

SOUNDBITE (English), Johan VAN OVERTVELDT (ECR, BE), Additional sources will be available for all those things that are curcial: for future jobs, future growth, future competitiveness and also certainly for the fight against climate change. Compared to the European Council's conclusion of July, we have 15 billion extra for these flagship programmes. And let me especially draw your attention to the fact that for EU for health, we have been able to triple the budget and we also secured that adequate resources are available, adequate new resources are available or will be available to honour the considerable future burden of the 750 billion euro.

SOUNDBITE (Portuguese), Jos&#233; Manuel FERNANDES (EPP, PT), Moreover, in this agreement, we have a timeline for the introduction of new own resources with very simple principles. Those who don't pay should be forced to pay now. The digital giants, it's fair that they pay is fair, that we have a financial transaction tax is fair, that we have a carbon border carbon border adjustment mechanism. This will help us to provide competitiveness for our SMEs.
