SOUNDBITE (English), Jo LEINEN (S&amp;D, DE), India is an important player for climate protection, and we are pleased to see that India is having a long term strategy for transformation to low carbon economy. Especially last year in Paris they had created a solar alliance so to bring as many countries around the world together for renewable energies. They could report us that now they have already more than 60 countries that will commit themselves of 100 % solar production in the electricity field.

SOUNDBITE (English), Jo LEINEN (S&amp;D, DE), The minister and the host of this COP 22 was very satisfied . She thinks that this COP will change a lot in Morocco itself, the host country, and as well in Africa. So therefore it is COP for Africa, for this continent that needs so much capacity building and transformation. Especially one good here in Marrakesh was the global action for Climate protection, bringing together different stakeholders: governments, business leaders, citizens, and civil society, so there were a lot of meetings around this COP, to create synergies and do the best to really avoid global warming

Marrakesh was an important step towards the next COP&rsquo;s where we have to review the commitments of Paris, although this is enough to really keep temperature bellow 2C. So next year in Bonn, and especially in two years, all the countries have to come up with more ambitious mitigations plans, with more strategic plans to transform their economies. Marrakesh as a re-commitment of 200 countries in the world that Paris was not on paper only, but that now it goes into action. That is the important message for everybody in the world.
