During the EP Plenary session (13-16/02) in Strasbourg, Knut FLECKENSTEIN (S&amp;D, DE), Johannes HAHN, Member of the EC in charge of European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations and Eleni THEOCHAROUS (ECR, CY) debate&nbsp;on 2016 Report on Albania.&nbsp;The results from the votes on the Fleckenstein report are&nbsp;:&nbsp; 546 in favour, 85 against, 62 abstention. the resolution is adopted.

SOUNDBITE (German), Knut FLECKENSTEIN (S&amp;D, DE), This progress call for the accessions negotiations to be open with Albania when the first set of the juridical reforms have been taken because these are the first implementation steps and requirements to combat corruption and organised crime.

SOUNDBITE (English), Johannes HAHN, Member of the EC in charge of European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Particular relevant of course is the swift quick off the re-evaluation of judges and prosecutors the so called wetting process, the wetting process has now begun with the establishment of the wetting bodies and sustained commitment and progress in this area is necessary for Albania to further advance in its EU accession process.

SOUNDBITE (Greek), Eleni THEOCHAROUS (ECR, CY), One problem faced with Albania is the penetration of Islam fanatics from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. That is a major problem that has to be solved. Also ethnic cleansing is being conducted against the Greek populations in Albania and this is changing the democratic balance in the population. Now we have to respect the rights of all minorities and that is crucial for the democratisation of the country.
