SOUNDBITE (French), Mariya GABRIEL, Commissioner-designate for the Digital Economy and Society portfolio , Working towards the realization of the Digital Single Market is a task of the utmost importance and it is from my past experience that I will draw resources and determination to achieve this goal.

SOUNDBITE (French), Mariya GABRIEL, The aim would be to create an enabling environment for all Europeans to take full advantage of the considerable potential offered by digital technologies. Technologies that knows no boundaries.

SOUNDBITE (English), Mariya GABRIEL, What is the magnitude of digital transformation? It is significant. It is a source of paramount opportunities for people but also helps addressing the major challenges of today: safety, health, poverty, inequality, growth, climate change.

SOUNDBITE (English), Mariya GABRIEL, I will seek to reach political agreements on the proposals concerning the Code of electronic communications, copyright reform, reform of audio-visual media services and on unjustified geo-blocking.  I will propose new targeted initiatives in the field of cybersecurity, starting with the review of the EU strategy and will make proposals for additional measures on cyber security standards such as certification and labelling. I will work for securing the privacy and safety of data and at guaranteeing at the same time that data can flow freely inside the EU.

SOUNDBITE (Bulgarian), Mariya GABRIEL, To create tomorrow's world is the most inspiring project. Based on the energy of the present, I intend to accompany this project through the completion of the Digital Single Market. This can only be achieved with you and your support, as well as, with the support of experts from the directorates. Under my direction, in complete transparency and in a spirit of dialogue, together, with common efforts and a clear objective: protecting and promoting the interests of European citizens .
