The European elections this year coincide with the 40th anniversary of the first elections to the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage, held in June 1979. The Historical Archives of the European Parliament, guardians of the Parliament's memory, are celebrating this anniversary with an exhibition of electoral posters that were produced during the institutional electoral campaigns between 1979 and 2014 to highlight the importance of voting.
