Every year millions of animals are transported in lorries 

across EU countries and to third countries

Parliament wants the rules governing animal transport 

These calves are beginning a journey from eastern France to Morocco, 

loading and unloading are stressful for animals. 

Parliament wants journey times to be as short as possible.

We don't want to have this long journey of transporting animals. 

We see the difference in each country how they are treating the animals.

Animals should have sufficient space and ventilation 

Technologies like GPS tracking should also be rolled out 

to make sure transporters comply with rules on journey times.

Proposals include stricter spot checks on animal transporters

 and tougher penalties for those who break the rules, 

including revoking licenses for repeat offenders.

If third countries cannot guarantee that they are treating their animals 

like we do in Europe, we'll ban the export of those animals.

The industry should be encouraged to transport animal products
