During the EP plenary session (28-31 May 2018) in Strasbourg, MEPs discuss new rules to ensure equal pay and working conditions for workers sent temporarily to another EU country. After 18 months, all of the host country’s labour rules would apply to posted workers. Travel, board and accommodation costs should be paid by the employer and not deducted from workers’ salaries, according to the revised rules, which were informally agreed by Parliament and Council negotiators in March. Statements by Elisabeth MORIN-CHARTIER (EPP, FR), rapporteur, Agnes JONGERIUS (S&D, NL), rapporteur, Marianne THYSSEN, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility, Richard SULÍK (ECR, SK) and Jean-Marie CAVADA (ALDE, FR).
