SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, Today&rsquo;s event is aimed at the 80 million EU citizens who have a permanent disability, but also to all those who have a temporary one, we want to pay attention to all of them.

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, One of my first actions as President of the European parliament was to send a letter to all the Heads of State and Government asking them to make sure that all citizens, with special attention to persons with a disability, are able to exercise their right to vote in the forthcoming European elections in 2019.

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, for me this is not only a question of solidarity, it is a question of freedom. And freedom is the value in which the European Union has been founded.

SOUNDBITE (Italian), Antonio TAJANI, EP President, If, to paraphrase slightly, the motto of the European Disability Forum is &lsquo;nothing about you without you&rsquo;, then I would like to add the following words: &lsquo;nothing about Europe without you&rsquo;.

SOUNDBITE (English), Yannis VARDAKASTANIS, EDF President, A new call on the European Commission and we seek the support of the European Parliament to start a new decade with a new renewal, a renewal of mobilising societies, actors, all those who take decisions for persons with disabilities with a second European year of people with disabilities in 2021.

SOUNDBITE (English), Yannis VARDAKASTANIS, EDF President, The question is a simple one: are we citizens? If we don&rsquo;t vote, we are not. We are not citizens in the European Union and this is a demand, a universal demand by all to all who take decisions.
