SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, EP President, (On EU long term budget negociations) I think that things were quite positive in the council. And the parliament, of course, will give its view on things next week on the recovery measures, on the council agenda.

SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, EP President, () We've always said we are not going to call into question the results we've already achieved, we cant be taking steps back or casting doubt on what we've already done. When it comes to the council decisions, well, we will assess those knowing full well what European law sets out. We know what the force of law is in the regulations and treaties. And we will be very carefull about the political message that the Council will send out, but what is of prime importance for us is that the agreement should not be called into question.

SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, EP President, (about Turkey) The point of this is that we are talking about our member states space and if sanctions need to be adopted because Turkey doesn't step back in terms of its aggression, then that may have to be the case.

SOUNDBITE (Italian), David SASSOLI, EP President, (On Brexit negotiations) If there is, then there's an agreement on the part of the parliament to vote on this, to evaluate it and vote on it before Christmas, if there isn't one. We hope there will be, but if there isn't one, then perhaps even next week. Emergency measures could be proposed and the parliament could vote on those because it would be important to have some kind of basis to regulate the relations of the two site.
