The EP President has been  fielding questions from the public

It’s the second time Martin Schulz  has taken part in a web chat,

dealing with questions that ranged from  how to restart Europe’s economy...

Europe must contribute to improving  living standards in other parts of the world.

MEPs have been busy sorting out  an EU budget for next year.

In July, EU governments agreed  to a below-inflation increase

around twice  France’s annual education budget.

Most MEPs believe the budget must be  enough to meet the promises already made.

The commitments that the EU  has already made to researchers,

to research institutions,  to local authorities,

Since 1980, the EP has been acquiring  works of art, many adorning its buildings.

Now it’s mounted an exhibition  at the Parlamentarium visitors’ centre,

showing one piece  from each Member State.

Art can be a factor that shows that  what unites us is much stronger,

much more important  than the things that divide us.

We were European a long time  before the European Community.

A long time before the institutions  we spoke European.
