MEPs called for a crackdown on corporate tax avoidance, scrutinised plans for cooperation with third countries on migration and reviewed results of the €315 billion Juncker Investment Plan.

Too often today multinationals  engage in profit shifting to tax havens

without having paid any tax  in the country where their activities are.

And via their economic activity,  employment,

they contribute  to the prosperity of our society.

The message is simple: we can go beyond  what the Commission originally proposed.

Today we propose  a new partnership framework

for across-the-board cooperation  on migration with third countries,

Jordan, Lebanon, Niger, Nigeria,  Senegal, Mali and Ethiopia.

This could be done now,  not waiting for the next boat to capsize.

When you become aware that by 2050  the population of Africa can double,

then that is one of the main topics of our  times to which Europe must give answers.

This programme  brings greater security, yes,

but above all it builds a political, economic,  social and cultural partnership with Africa.

To say today, we have  the solution to our problem,

we're simply going to  duplicate the deal with Turkey

and roll it out to all the other countries -

sorry, that is not the way forward, I think.

It's simply saying, OK, we'll give you money,  and you keep the refugees.

Legal migration must not be done  on the cheap and on the quick.

We must do it properly so that we have  a proper mutual understanding

with the sending countries.  No cherry picking.

on the infrastructure and innovation window  but also on SME financing.

This 12.8 billion is expected to trigger  mostly private investment

or private-public partnership investments  worth 100 billion.

We need large projects,  more sustainability,

more investment in the digital future,  higher risk profiles.

What we are seeing is that  investment is concentrated

in the richest and more developed  regions of Europe.

Please understand our concerns.  Near the border of the EU and Lithuania,

an authoritarian country is using a Russian  company to quickly build a nuclear plant,

and they do not comply  with international standards.

Belarus must certainly carry out all  the environmental impact assessments

and stress tests  required by international agreements.

It's another signal to our Tunisian friends.  We're telling them this morning:

You are not alone on your difficult path.  Europe is with you.

We cannot convince the Eurosceptics,  but we should mobilise the pro-Europeans.

The cure is clear: more solidarity,  humanity and empathy,

more rule of law, more synergies,  more education, more integration.
