Paris is in the spotlight as MEPs debate counter-terrorism measures and Europe's role in climate talks. Calls are also made for jobs and growth funding to take firm priority.

We need to make sure  that our law enforcement authorities

for the prevention of terrorist acts  and serious trans-national crimes.

We won’t support measures  which impinge on freedom,

an indelible triumph of the European Union.

We call ourselves the European Union  because we are founded upon this freedom.

Europol says there are over 3,000  EU foreign fighters, radicalised,

militarily trained, returning to the EU  and exploiting gaps and deficiencies

in law enforcement information exchange  across the EU.

This directive would help to address that.

In all major terrorist attacks, Mr Kirkhope,  over the last ten years,

the perpetrators were known by the services  of the different countries

and the problem is today not so much  that we don’t collect the information,

the problem is that we don’t  share the information!

It is essential that we strengthen  economic growth

The ILO,  the International Labour Organisation

has published figures today showing  that through this investment fund

more than 2.1 million jobs could be  generated in the European Union.

Experts expect that this  will give the EU a huge impetus.

We are, in fact,  very worried that Member States so far

are not making capital pledges  for the funds.

We have the most ambitious climate policy  anywhere in the world:

In the meantime, India and China  are moving, slowly perhaps,

While there are grounds  for optimism for Paris,

we're waiting for moves  from Canada and Australia.

Energy efficiency  must be the top priority of the Juncker Plan.

Secondly, I trust and hope that we will  recognise our responsibility on pollution

At the same time, we are looking for  innovative solutions.
