MEPs debate new rules on land use, land use change and forestry, member states’ emission reductions and the revision of the Market Stability Reserve. In particluar are discussed the deals reached with EU countries in late 2022 on three pieces of legislation that are part of the “Fit for 55 in 2030 package”. This is the EU’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels in line with the European Climate Law. MEPs debate and vote on key EU draft laws to combat climate change by drastically reducing greenhouse gas emissions and to protect jobs and citizens. Parliament is set to adopt its position on eight proposals that are part of the “Fit for 55 in 2030 package”. This is the EU’s plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and have net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (climate neutrality) by 2050, in line with the European Climate Law. The texts approved will be Parliament’s mandate for negotiations with EU governments on the final laws.

During the plenary session (5-8 July 2021) of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, MEPs debate on Connecting Europe Facility, a key EU funding instrument to promote growth, jobs and competitiveness through targeted infrastructure investment at European level. It supports the development of high performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the fields of transport, energy and digital services. CEF investments fill the missing links in Europe's energy, transport and digital backbone.
