Supporters of the radical left group Syriza

have been celebrating its clear victory  in the Greek elections.

Alexis Tsipras has now been  sworn in as Prime Minister,

choosing the right-of-centre ANEL,  Independent Greeks party,

MEPs in Brussels  have been giving their reaction.

He is the democratically elected new  Prime Minister of an EU member country

who has the full right to be respected,  in that regard, by the European institutions,

as the representative of  the government of Greece.

I'm hoping the Eurozone won't be affected.

Because I'm hoping for  a stable government,

The right path is to change  Europe's economic policies together.

If Tsipras wants to do this,  staying in the Eurozone and the EU,

honouring Greece's commitments,  he will be listened to

and even find consensus  from the European Socialists.

However, Tsipras has chosen the right,  a completely incomprehensible choice.

If you're a member of a club,  you have to comply with the rules.

That means we have to get on the path  and continue on the path of reforms,

Rescheduling the Greek debt  is entirely conceivable.

It's clear that the absolute amount  of its debt, the state of its economy,

the level of unemployment,  the difficulties of a big part of the population

And I don't think that tomorrow we'll be  extrapolating the Greek case to Portugal

or Spain or another country.  The situations are not comparable.

It's a triumph for Syriza,  the Left and the Greek people.

Above all it is a defeat for the policies  which have led to unemployment,

We therefore hope that other peoples of  Europe will be inspired by this victory,

A new political force has emerged  which is not associated

with the clientelist practices we've seen  with the two main Greek parties.

That's the first reason it's good news.  The second reason is it calls into question

many of the preconceived ideas  of the orthodox canon of thought in Europe

as they have been put into practice,  particularly brutally, in Greece.

Spain and Italy have both got  general elections this year

and it's likely that Five Star and Podemos,  the Spanish party,

And they are firmly against  what's been happening

where, essentially, the European leaders  have forced the European people
