SOUNDBITE (French), Val&#233;ry GISCARD D&apos;ESTAING, In a perfect Europe - we are going there, but slowly - citizens must understand and know how Europe's works, the basic rules, the powders the institutions, etc. Until now the texts were difficult or even impossible to read. The work presented in the book today is a unique comprehensible text of the Lisbon treaty - which is a treaty of amendments - and now we have a single fluent text. This is to give the possibility to any reader, normal citizen, student, and head of enterprise to have a logical and coherent vision of this European treaty.

SOUNDBITE (French), Val&#233;ry GISCARD D&apos;ESTAING, We have to re-give to the European citizens, the necessity of Europe. This is what the people must understand. I actually think they understood, but they have to feel-it as well. I was a few days ago in China, in Shanghai, a town with 21 millions citizens, where is a huge activity, construction, enterprise creation, etc, and while I return I asked myself how are we making to remain divided ( disperse) and in competitive against each other instead to stand all together face to the others. So In realty I think the European people must understand the necessity of Europe. It is not an invention, a fantasy or a personal choice it is a necessity. In a world of very big regions we can exist and defend our values, our principles, if we are acting all together.<br /><br />

SOUNDBITE (French), Enrique BARON CRESPO, First we have to say to the people that they have more rights and they are having European identity , the Chart, that for the 1st time they have common values which are on the table, there is the citizens initiative rights, there is a democratic co legislative process. Yes, we have to explain all of that. We have especially to explain the fact that the people have the right to work within the Lisbon treaty which is not obvious. Normally the treaty is o the Internet, you have to click at least 3 or 4 times to find it and to find the Chart it is almost a researcher work.
