MC Angel, born in England to Irish parents, lives in London, and felt European for the first time in the midst of the Brexit negotiations, on the way to the EYE event in May 2018. In this video, she talks about her tough upbringing and more recently her work with underprivileged youth. She highlights the problem of gang culture and the tragedy of knife violence in her home city. She discusses the power of rap to reach youth, and about her vision of Europe: one of unity, where ‘we [Europeans] understand that we are stronger as one’, where we understand the power of standing up, driving the change, and one of sharing, where ‘every single life is important, and no one, absolutely no one gets left behind'.
