SOUNDBITE (English), Monika HOHLMEIER (EPP, DE), rapporteur , For me the most important issue was that the EP stands closely together in our opinion and to show that we are together in the fight against terrorism, that we are supporting the justice system and the security institutions, and the most important is to show as EP, that the decisions of the UN are implemented in the EU with a directive, and in co-decision with the EP. The main points of this terrorism directive are: for the first time we are in co-decision. Second issue is that things as training for terrorism activities, travelling for terrorism purposes, not traveling as such, this is not punished. But if you are planning to commit an attack, that the security institutions have the chance to stop this attack before it happens, if they found out for example, that someone is arriving in the EU for committing an attack.

SOUNDBITE (English), Monika HOHLMEIER (EPP, DE), rapporteur , One more issue, that everybody uses now, in the last time, is this propaganda of ISIS, new kind of recruitment, new kind of self-training, by misusing the internet, and trying to attract young people to commit those very severe crimes. We achieved one other thing that is very important, we mentioned more the victims of terrorism. I think we should speak more about victims, not only about the criminals.
