SOUNDBITE (English), Cathy Kearney, Vice President of European Operations, APPLE, Multilateral reform efforts such as BEPS should promote a more certain international environment to attract investment and foster growth. BEPS (base erosion and profit shifting) properly recognizes that tax laws and standards have not kept pace with the evolution of technology and commerce. The global consensus approach in BEPS holds the promise of simplicity, certainty and consistency.

SOUNDBITE (English), Bernd LUCKE (ECR, DE),  I just wanted to know now legal tax avoidance possible through any kind of special structure you have in Europe?

SOUNDBITE (English), Julia MACRAE, Tax Director EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India, Africa), APPLE, We've not avoided taxes in Europe or in the US, associated to the way that we're structured. The amount of taxes that we pay in Europe, in Ireland and in all the other jurisdictions is associated to the activities that we perform in those countries, we've not avoided any taxes by way of our structure.
